Pig Tails

Addie's hair is not quite long enough but I thought I'd try to put her
hair up anyway. She wasn't that happy about the experience.

"Really mom?"

The Splash Park and Addison's New Trick

Addison got another ear infection last week! It was so sad... but her tubes are helping release some of the pressure. It's pretty gross but at least it was draining. I took her to the doctor and he prescribed some ear drops which have cleared up most of her symptoms. Her fever is gone and she is sleeping through the night again. We decided to do something fun today to celebrate her feeling better. She LOVES the splash park which is about a 5 minute drive from our house. Addison can walk around pretty easily now and got soaked walking through all the sprinklers! She especially squeals with delight with I pick her up and put her feet in the water. It was pretty fun and Addie is still taking a very long nap. I guess it wore her out... what it's only 101 degrees?!

Paul taught Addie to show how old she is when you ask her. It is pretty cute and sometimes she claps after she shows you. There's also a video under the video section that shows her doing it. Here's a picture!

Addison also likes to try to brush her hair now... it is too cute. I don't think she's ever really brushed it with the hairbrush on her hair, but she strokes her head with the brush.

Addison at The Children's Museum

Addie went to a birthday party at the Austin Children's Museum
yesterday and loved it! She squealed and tried to run to the toys and
other kids. She also likes to bounce when excited... It was too cute.

1 YEAR Doctor Appointment

Addison had her 1 year baby well-check doctor appointment today. The doctor reported that she was doing "perfectly". Addie weighed in at 25.5 lbs and was 31.5 inches long. The doctor said she was in the 95th percentile for both weight and height and doing beautifully. Addison can walk 4 to 5 steps at a time, she says "Dada" "Mama" "More" "Dri-ger" (for Shiner) and continually attempts to communicate through "Da Da Da's" and squeals. I have heard her even say "Ba ba" and point to her bottle as well as "muh" and point to milk. She knows the signs for "More", "All Done", and "Milk". She also loves to hold her hands over her head when you ask her "How big is Addison?!" SOOOoo BIG! She will also clap her hands when you sing "If You're Happy and You Know It."

Addie loves to eat scrambled eggs, blueberries, edemame, chicken, cheese, strawberries, ... and anything that Paul or I have on our plates. She definitely wants to try everything! Addie just started drinking whole milk. She was on a half formula half milk concoction last week and now seems used to all whole milk in her bottle and sippy cup. Addie has become very playful over the past few months and is very interested in her toys. Addison also likes to play "where's Addison" and hide under her blanket then show herself. She also loves to dance and tries to sing songs. Addie thinks it's hilarious when people jump and she likes to try to hop while sitting on the floor. She gives kisses to Paul and me and loves to be held. Addison is still apprehensive around other people. However, she will go to her auntie Cyndi, Kelly and Tracy since they all babysit often!

Addison has become very attached to her blanket.... that may be an understatement... She LOVES her blanket and carries it around with her at daycare. If she sees her blanket and realizes that she is without it, she does everything she knows possible to communicate that she wants it. She also loves her binki, music, and going outside. Most of all, Addie really enjoys walking while holding on to my finger. She loves it so much that she will grab my hand and place it in her hand and lead me forward. It really seems as though she can walk very well, and my finger is just a psychological support rather than for her motor skills. If I refuse to walk with her she sometimes cries, stomps and flops down on the floor in mid temper tantrum. Usually, showing Addie Shiner or ignoring her seems to help with the "fit". Addison also loves to crawl under things and often is found under the kitchen table. She almost always ends up near Shiner and Ranger's water bowl and has knocked it over a few times. Addison has so many things that she loves and it's so fun to watch her laugh, giggle, and squeal when she is having a good time!

Before Addison was born I signed up for one of those email article generators that tells you how old your baby is and what developmental milestones they may hit that week. On Addison's first birthday the email no longer said "Your BABY is ... old." It said "Your TODDLER is one year old" and my heart almost broke! I don't know why that email made it hit home. Maybe because it just seemed like one year was so far away when she was just born. Over this past year we have seen a baby triple in size and personality. Paul and I have joined the parent club, and I must say it is more hard work and fun than I ever imagined.

I have heard that when you have kids, time goes by so slowly over the minute, hours and days, and quickly over the years. This year has flown by, and I now truly know what it means when people say time feels as though it speeds up after you have kids. When did that country song "Don't Blink" make me boo hoo?! How did I get so sentimental?

Here is our baby girl at two weeks old and then one year old! I cannot believe our baby is a toddler.

Addison's First Birthday

Addie is ONE and I cannot believe it. Time goes by so much faster when you measure it by a growing baby! For Addison's birthday we had all the family over for a bar-b-q (minus Nick and Jana, who are in Seattle and David who is in Morocco of course). Addison had her own little cake to DEVOUR. (Video to follow!) Happy Birthdays were sung, presents were opened, and we all had a great time making Addison the center of attention. Here are some pictures!
