He's in Morocco with the Peace Corp, but he is with us in spirit!)

Doctor Appt
check. She has grown a lot! The doctor's exact words were "wow". She
is now 8 lbs 9 oz. She loves taking naps... The perfect way to put on
weight after eating.

Carrie's visit
She did a great job holding our little one.
SweetPeace
SweetPeace baby swing, which is awesome. It swings back and forth in
a motion that simulates rocking the baby in your arms. Addison loves
it and goes to sleep immediately.

Feeding time
in a "cluster feeding" mode. Basically, by the time we fed her,
burped her, changed her and swaddled her, she was hungry again! That
led to a never ending cycle with zero sleep - exhausting for her and
us. One of the clinical assistants told us that she was getting food
from Mandy to meet her nutriitional needs, but not enough to feel
full. So we supplemented with formula and that did the trick! She
got real full and knocked out right away. We finally got a few hours
of rest.
Today we head home from the hospital; pics to follow!

Bundled up
pacifiers, and sleeping!
There were some worries about her temperature today and they took some
blood to run tests but by thee end of the day she was back to normal -
false alarm!
Meanwhile, Dad has gotten really good at changing diapers and wrapping
swaddle blankets, Mom is good at feeding and rocking her to sleep.
We are happy to report everyone is in good spirits and health!

In recovery
bath. During that time Mandy was getting cleaned up. Then they moved
us up to the post-partum recovery room. The dr had sent everyone home
already and Kelly and Tracy were the only one's who had made their way
back. They helped us up to the recovery room and I wheeled Addison up
on the cart. Then I got Mandy settled and went out to get some bfast
tacos at taco shack. We ate them while Addie slept, then Mandy fed
her and then we took a needed nap until 10:30 when people started
showing up.
If you're wanting to come by, feel free, just call me first for
directions and to make sure there is room! 512-825-7203.

Antibiotic and oxygen
her on oxygen to make sure the baby is getting enough.
The Dr is coming back in to do a dilation check around 11:15 and we
expect Mandybto be further along mow. She is really feeling pressure
during all of the contractions.
Ice chips
during labor. So I have been making trips to the ice machine every so
often to refill them for her.
They just took her temperature at 100.1, which they don't like because
it makes the baby's heart beat too fast. The nurse is notifying the
doctor although they may not do anything since Addison's heart rate is
still in the "normal" range.
Also Gay wanted me to mention that Pete is at the lake and will be
coming in tomorrow!
More drugs
medicine. Hopefully this will work better/faster/longer...
Much more frequent
photo (right hand side) the contractions coming every 60-80 seconds.
Mandy is sleeping now; saving energy to push soon! I am very proud of
her, she has been brave and is doing a great job!
Halfway there!
her pitocin dose from 4 to 8 to 10 and we are moving along on schedule!
Now the question - will Addison be 8/6/08 or 8/7/08?
Food
is full, back to the updates!

Blankets
keep them in a big warmer. The nurse in this picture just looked at
me and said "mmmmmmm hmmmmmmm!" when I asked for blankets.
Nervous Dad!
every 2 minutes. They haven't been back to check her dilation for
awhile, apparently they don't check often because of infection risks.
Baby heart monitor
measures her contractions and she has another that listens to
Addison's heartbeat. They have it playing in the background and it's
soothing...
Still waiting
mode now. The nurse just brought olive oil to make things slide
easier (later). Kelly is entertaining Gay with iphone games. Mandy
is watching tv and is in good spirits.

Upping the pitocin
is the drug that induces labor. Mandy was going really fast on
contractions before the epidural (every 90-120 seconds), but the
contractions were too short in duration. Then the contractions slowed
down a lot... So the nurse upped the drug to try and even everything
out.

The gang is here
the drugs and they gave her oxygen for a few minutes because the
epidural lowered her blood pressure and made her feel sick. We are in
waiting mode Now. It could be hours or minutes. They will recheck
dilation again soon.
