Happy New Year!

We are wishing everyone a Happy and SAFE New Year! I still cannot believe at this time last year I was thinking it was going to be so awesome to have a baby. It's so much more than "awesome".

Now 21 weeks!



Recently, Addison has been extra "drooly" and very interested in gumming anything she can stick in her mouth. I'm not sure if she is really teething yet though, because I don't see any inflamation and she doesn't seem to be in much pain. She loves her new Christmas toys and it's so cool to see her start to really have interest in toys.

She also rolled from her belly to her back once, but I'm beginning to think maybe that was a fluke. She now tries to push her butt up in the air and move her legs when she is on her tummy. Addison doesn't get as frustrated as quickly on her tummy either. I'm hoping that means that she will start to become more comfortable with rolling over.



Since she isn't very mobile, Addison has a bald spot on the back of her head... the teachers at day care call her "cue ball" because of it. Once she starts crawling and sitting up I'm sure it will go away!


Addison's new best friend is her feet. She loves to hold them while on her back. When she holds her feet and we turn on the celing fan... she's in heaven.


Paul's birthday is on the 2nd and he took the day off! So, we plan to drop Addison off at day care and spend the day together... most likely go to a movie (which was our favorite entertainment activity before a baby!). It should be a lot of fun.

We had a great time in San Antonio this Christmas. On Christmas Eve we went to Phil and Mary's church for the early service. Addison slept the entire time... which surprised me! They had a HUGE organ playing at full blast and she only startled one time and went straight back to sleep. It was wonderful to see all of Paul's family, (Grandmother, parents, sister and her boyfriend... most of the pictures are from Christmas morning and I didn't want to post anyone in jammies that didn't want the world wide web to see!). It truly was a fun time, thanks Mary and Phil for hosting!

It was Addison's first trip away and she did great! She is definitely feeling much better. We could see a marked improvement on Christmas day. She is sleeping better, laughing more, and eating better. She is eating a TON of rice cereal and loves it. Today, when Paul fed her she smiled very big when she saw her bowl. It's really cool to see her reaction to all of these new experiences! We hope everyone had a happy holiday! We sure did.

My parents (GG and Gramps) came down to celebrate Christmas a little early with Kelly, Paul and me. Paul and I will be heading to San Antonio tomorrow for Christmas with his family. Addison had fun watching us open gifts... and she got all the bows. Thanks GG and Gramps for all of the gifts for Addie!

Feeling Better!

Addison went to the doctor again today to check on her RSV. She is doing very well, better than the doctor expected. She still is on the nebulizer but now it is every 8 hours rather than every 4 hours. Her ears have cleared up a lot, and we actually got more than 2 hours of consecutive sleep last night!

Here are a few pictures of her in her "jump and go". She hasn't figured out the bouncing part yet, but she likes to turn in it. Plus, if I bounce it for her, she gets a very big grin on her face. Also are some pictures of her playing with her blanket. She loves grasping blankets and pulling them up to her eyes and face.

Double Ear Infection and RSV

Addison went to the doctor today and the doc found she has an ear infection in each ear. The left is worse than the right. She didn't have a fever and is really pretty happy except at night, so I was really surprised. She is on Amoxicillin for the infection. The doctor also did an RSV test and it was positive. RSV or "Respiratory Syncytial Virus" is an infection of the lungs and runs rampid in day care centers... let the infections begin! :(

She now has to use a nebulizer every 4 hours, which is basically a mister that goes over her nose and mouth and gives her medicine. So, right now she is getting Tylenol, Amoxicillin, and Nebulizer meds all day... plus the prevacid that she gets each morning. I feel so bad for her, but I know she'll be better soon. Luckily this happened right before we get off for the holidays.

Paul is the greatest husband too... he is in San Jose for work, but decided to come back home as soon as he could so that he could help out with Addison. I hope she sleeps a little better tonight after a couple doses of that antibiotic! Poor baby was up about every hour between 1 am and 6 am last night.

Sick Addison

Poor Addie is sick. She started running a fever on Sunday... maybe Saturday night, has a cough, congestion, and is waking up a lot at night. I'm taking her to the doctor tomorrow. She didn't have a fever today, so maybe it's just a cold... I hope so. I'm sure the doc will be able to tell us. After a vapor bath, saline drops, and a humidifier... maybe she'll actually sleep a little longer tonight?

Addison's Four Month Doctor Appointment

Addison went to the doctor today for her 4 month appointment... she is really 4 and a half months... but there was a delay in her shots since we changed doctors.

The doctor said she is very healthy! She is a big girl.

Weight: 135 lbs... just kidding ... 16 lbs 5 oz

Height: 25.5 inches

Both her weight and height are in the 90th percentile. Addison is able to do mini push ups on her tummy and keep her head up very well. She has not rolled over, yet. However, the doctor said since she is pretty big it may just take her a little longer. I've seen her come close to rolling, but she's also really mellow and in no hurry. The doc also said, "Ok, let's start some solids!".

She also had to have her shots, and oh my goodness... I've NEVER heard her cry so loud and never for so long! I couldn't console her at all! Even the doctor came back into the room and asked if everything was ok. I felt so bad for her. Eventually, I just packed her up and left because she would not calm down. After I got her in the car, I turned on her mirror that has lights and music, and she finally stopped crying. The whole 15 minute experience was traumatic, but everything is fine now. As I type she is playing with her bouncy chair toys and babbling away, which is her most favorite thing to do.

At 4 and a half months Addison:

Loves to stand in Paul or my lap with assistance.

Laughs when you make funny faces, and sometimes in her sleep.

Smiles when she sees someone she recognizes... and sometimes just random people who give her attention.

Babbles to herself when she wakes up in the morning. (It's hilarious)

Likes to grab blankets and hold on to them close to her face.

Grabs toys and tries to get them in her mouth, although she is not too coordinated yet to accomplish this goal.

Smiles and coos at the dogs, she sometimes tries to touch them... but mostly just looks intently.

She LOVES looking at the Christmas quilt that my mom made me... I guess it's all the patterns and colors.

Goes to sleep on her own. I put her down sleepy but awake in her crib and she almost always puts her right arm over her face and falls asleep within 5 to 10 minutes.

She can sleep 11 hours at night, and she does this about 2 or 3 times per week depending on how busy her day was. Recently, she has been waking up more often to eat and then goes right back to sleep. I think she's ready for solids.

Likes taking a bath, and doesn't cry anymore after the bath, as long as we keep her in the bathroom with a little heat! (It took us a little while to figure that one out)

Rarely cries... except if some mean old nurse pokes her four times with a needle!

LOL and First Oatmeal Cereal

I'm cracking up right now because I can hear Addison laughing in her sleep over the monitor. Oh my goodness... so cute.

She has her "4 month" appointment on Wednesday the 10th, so I will give a new update then. Addison will be about 18 weeks then! My guess is that she is still a humongous baby. However, perfectly proportional... except for her face, because she is absolutely adorable and carries most of her weight in her cheeks.

We attempted to feed her oatmeal baby cereal a little bit ago because she was already taking it in her bottles when she had reflux. It didn't go as well as expected, but was pretty funny. Here are some pictures.
