Mild Pre-eclampsia - Change in Induction!

As part of the blood tests the doctor also had me do a 24 hour urine test. When the results came back on Monday, the doctor called and asked me to come into the office because I was showing protein in my urine, which is a sign of pre-eclampsia.

This diagnosis explains all the swelling, especially in my face, ankles, and feet. In addition, my blood pressure was high. At the last doctor appointment it was 154/103 and 120/70 is considered "normal." Due to all of these symptoms, my doctor has decided to induce me at 37 weeks! It looks like baby Jack will be here on September 13th! My doctor also diagnosed me with "mild" pre-eclampsia since I'm not experiencing other symptoms such as headaches. She put me on "moderate" bed rest which means I need to try to sit and keep my feet up at work and home as much as possible. I liberally interpreted that to mean that I am not allowed to do dishes and laundry at home... Paul, luckily, is supportive.

I will also be going to the doctor twice a week for check ups and blood tests. The silver lining in all of this is that they do an ultrasound every time I go! This is just to make sure Jack is doing ok and check fluids. The last ultrasound looked great. The doctor also said I had a TON of fluid... that's probably why it feels like Jack is doing flips!

34 Weeks!

We went to the doctor today for an ultrasound and everything us looking great! Jack is measuring right on time. He weighs about 5 pounds right now, which the doctor said was average size. He sure feels bigger than that! In the ultrasound we saw Jack's legs and feet, stomach, and a blurry face. He was very active and it was difficult to get a good picture of his face. However, we could see his nose and mouth and I think he looks a lot like Paul!

I have been swelling up a lot in my ankles, feet, hands, and face. The doctor ordered a blood test just to check liver and kidney function and everything looked fine. I just need to stay off my feet as much as I can and drink lots of water. I will take a picture of my ankles... They look like Shrek feet! My nose feels pretty swollen too and Paul has to ask me to turn over at night because I SNORE! I really hope that pregnancy symptom goes away!

Addison's 2nd Birthday Party!

Addison had a great birthday party last Saturday! Her birthday is actually on the 7th, but we wanted to celebrate a weekend early so that everyone special to Addie could come to her party! We started with a kiddie pool and sprinklers in the backyard, then ate some good burgers and hotdogs, ate some amazing cupcakes that my mom decorated (pictures soon), opened presents, and then attempted to open a pinata! It made for an excellent birthday celebration. Addison loved all of the attention, and has been singing "Happy Birthday to You" for the last several days. Thanks to everyone who came, helped us set up, and celebrated with us! Here are some of the pictures I took. Paul has many more on his iPhone and when he is back from his trip we will upload more!

We gave Addison a "Glider" bike for her birthday. She is a bit obsessed with bikes right now. She loved the bike, but fell down ... er ... over... once and now is a bit scared to get on it. She still loves to push it and the next morning one of the first things she said was "New green bikey!"
