So far, life after tubes has been better. Addison still has a bad cough, and I think she has a little bit of cold/flu going on because she coughed during the night a lot. However, at least she didn't wake up crying bloody murder last night!
The doctor said that she had a lot of puss and fluid behind her ear drums. They sent some of the fluid and puss off to get evaluated so they can put her on the right antibiotic for the infection. Poor girl was probably very uncomfortable. She did awesome for the procedure. She didn't cry or even fuss the entire time. The nurses said that she would probably cry after waking from the anesthesia but she just woke up and then fell back to sleep for about 30 minutes without even blinking. The whole procedure was about 7 minutes or less. It took us more time to fill out the paper work and get signed in than anything else. She has to have ear drops twice a day for the next 5 days and she will most likely be put back on antibiotics after they analyze the culture. Addie has had a little bit of leakage from her ears, but overall has done very well. I can't wait for all of her other congestion and sickness to get better!

TUBES
I took Addison to the Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist today. He took one look at her ears and recommended tubes. He did give other options, but I feel so bad for Addison to be on more medicine that may or may not help her. Plus, she had her hearing checked and the results showed she has pretty bad deficits because of the fluid behind her ear drums. I was surprised to hear that the operation takes about 10 minutes or less! Plus, the recovery is very fast, and hopefully she will feel better much faster than on those slow old antibiotics. She will have the tubes placed on Monday morning! The doctor wanted to move fast so she will feel relief quickly.
Poor Addie, has lots of congestion too. She still rattles in her chest and has crusty eyes. She's been congested on and off since she had RSV back in December. Since she is in day care, there isn't really a good way to protect her from possible sniffles. However, I do hope these tubes help with the congestion in her ears.
Regardless of all of the congestion and nastiness. Addison is a great baby. She is usually all smiles and rarely fusses unless in pain, tired, or hungry. Her bottom two teeth are slowly but surely making their way into the world.

6 Month Review
Paul took Addison to the doctor for her 6 month appointment and vaccinations. Addison weighs 19 pounds and 10 oz!! She's a big girl... in the 95th percentile for weight and Paul was out of the room when her height was measured, but the doctor said she was in the 75th percentile for height. When the doctor came into the room Addison cried a bunch... I think she remembers being at the office before. She has a bit of stranger anxiety and sometimes fusses when Paul or I leave the room at home. Addie also has another ear infection! The doctor said that her ears were pretty stopped up and prescribed her another round of antibiotics... this time a stronger kind. (I forget the name) He also suggested we go to an ear nose and throat specialist for Addison. This is the third ear infection she has had, and the doctor believes she is having a hard time hearing. She isn't making "ma ma ma" or "da da da" sounds but rather sounds like she is singing and makes "la la la" noises. She can definitely hear us and absolutely loves hearing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", I think she atempts to sing along sometimes. Paul said in the middle of the appointment a girl had a seziure out in the front of the office. The doctor had to run out and help the girl who was probably a teenager. Paul reported that the girl had just had a shot and was so worked up about it she hyperventalated and then had the seziure. A pretty scary experience I am sure!
Addison has become so much fun! She loves to hug my neck when I hold her and gives kisses with her mouth wide open. When Paul comes into the room she shows her delight with a huge smile or laugh. She loves her daddy. Addison has two small white "dots" on the bottom of her mouth and hopefully teeth will apear soon. I can feel two little sharp points there and she is certainly interested in chewing anything she can find. She can sit up by herself, but will topple over if left alone for too long. She loves to turn over on her tummy and attempt to grab anything around her, but cannot... or does not... flip back over from her tummy to her back when she gets tired. Sometimes she will flip over on her tummy in the middle of the night and grunt and fuss until we flip her back over onto her back. Addison really likes when we dance around with her in our arms, but her favorite thing to do is try to pet the dogs. Ranger does not want any part of Addison and I think is thankful she cannot get to him ... yet. Shiner, on the other hand, loves to give Addie kisses and will start to lick the air as soon as she gets close to Addison. Addie will grab fistfulls of hair on the dogs and squeezes Shiner's joules. Shiner does not mind a bit and still atempts to lick Addison with her joules pulled to one side.
Addison goes to sleep really early, between 6 and 6:30 every night and sleeps until about 5 am. Sometimes we can get her to go back to sleep for an hour and other times we can't. On a good day she will wake up at 6:00 in the morning and then we can get her to go back to sleep and wake up at 7:15. (That happens once in a blue moon). Our little early bird makes for a tired mom and dad in the morning. I have become acustomed to going to bed early and am slowly becoming more of a morning person. I have also become acustomed to making coffee every morning, which I have never done in the past!
Addie is a pretty good eater. She will eat 3 servings of veggies or fruit a day plus 4 to 5 bottles that can be anywhere between 4 and 6 oz. I think her favorite thing to eat is sweet potatoes, and she likes peas the least! Addison also loves taking baths now. She recently has started kicking in the water and splashing. Her favorite thing to do is chew on her fish washcloth while in the bath tub. Addison's hair is getting thicker and longer as well. Her little bald spot on the back of her head is slowly getting smaller and smaller. As of right now, her hair looks sandy blonde. In pictures it may have a red tint, but in person it definitely looks more brown. I think she may look a lot like her daddy!

Nick and Jana's Wedding
Paul, Addison, and I drove to Galveston this weekend for Nick and Jana's wedding. I am so happy for my brother. Jana is wonderful and I can tell they love each other so much. It was great to see the wedding and hang out with all of the family.
Nick and Jana decided to get married on a cruise ship. It was really cool to go to a wedding on the ship! Plus, a lot of the people who went to the wedding stayed on the ship for the 5 day cruise to Cozumel and Progresso. I am sure they are having an awesome time right now! I'm sad that we couldn't make it on the cruise. However, after having Addison with us for the weekend and being out for the rehearsal dinner and then the wedding, I quickly realized we made the right decision. It would have been really tough and pretty stressful to be on the ship with a 6 month old. We definitely wouldn't have had as much freedom. However, Addison did very well over the trip. MUCH better than I thought. I thought she might have really bad stranger anxiety, get restless in the car, or be really fussy because she wouldn't be able to sleep. She was great! She rarely even became fussy, she did great in the car... pretty much slept or babbled to the music, she let people hold her no problem, and stayed up for the party! This weekend made me realize we have a really easy baby. Here are some pictures from the trip.
